Pigs are passive mobs that naturally spawn in the world. They can be found in most biomes with grass and only drop raw porkchops. They can be mounted if right-clicked with a saddle.

Appearance

A pig has pink skin, ears, and a big nose. Their eyes consist of one black and one white pixel. They have a short, stubbed tail and their snouts protrude from their face.

Behavior

Pigs will wander around and eat grass, converting it directly to loose dirt when they do. If a block nearby gets broken or placed or a nearby animal gets attacked, they'll quickly try to flee. They will follow the player around if they're holding carrots, cooked carrots, carrot on a stick, potatoes, wheat or chocolate.

Keep in mind

  • Zombies will hunt down pigs during the night.
  • When struck by lightning, pigs turn into zombie pigmen.
    • Baby pigs that get hit by lightning also turn into zombie pigmen.
    • Ridden pigs also turn into zombie pigmen upon being struck by lightning. The player will receive 2 and a half hearts damage and be knocked off the mob.
