Lapis Lazuli Ore is a block found in the overworld at a depth of level 31 or below in all biomes. Any Pickaxe, Sharp Stone or Iron Chisel can harvest between 4-8 Lapis Lazuli from it, either breaking the block into Loose Stones if a pickaxe of iron or better is used, or leaving behind a damaged Smooth Stone block otherwise. The highest concentration of Lapis Lazuli ore is found between levels 13 and 16.

Lapis Lazuli is a semi-precious gem that is primarily used as a blue Dye, or in the creation of Redstone Eyes in advanced device blocks such as the Detector Block.

If a pickaxe with a Fortune enchantment is used, as many as 32 Lapis Lazuli pieces can be dropped from a single ore.

The full unbroken ore block can only be obtained by use of a Silk Touch enchanted pickaxe, though similar to Redstone Ore it cannot be smelted.
