Carved pumpkins are the spooky outer husks left behind when a pumpkin is stripped of its inner seeds. They can also be found naturally in plains biomes inside the abandoned village spawn radius. While they can be broken with an axe, they will not drop as a block without a silk touch enchantment.

Snow Golems

Carved pumpkins can be used to create snow golems by stacking two blocks of snow vertically with a carved pumpkin on top, then bringing it to life by throwing a soul urn at it. Snow golems will attack any nearby enemy mob from range with snowballs, which do not do damage (except to blazes) but will provoke enemies from attacking other targets.

Snow golems will quickly take heat damage in hot biomes such as deserts and the Nether, but this can be mitigated by immediately throwing a splash potion of fire resistance.

Keep In Mind

  • Carved pumpkins can be worn as a helmet, but they do not have any armour value, and they impede the player's vision.
  • Jack 'o' lanterns can also be used instead of carved pumpkins in the creation of snow golems.
