Loose Nether Brick Stairs are a non-naturally spawning block crafted from the firing and crafting of Nether Sludge into Nether Brick (Item), or from Loose Nether Brick. Loose Nether Bricks Stairs are subject to gravity, but applying Clay, Nether Sludge, or a Slimeball will act as Mortar and turn them into their non-falling variants. Mortar can be applied manually or with a dispenser.

A pickaxe with the Silk Touch enchantment, or a Block Dispenser are the only way to obtain the mortared version of loose blocks, and use them for crafting.
