A lava pillow is a pocket of lava that has been cooled on the outside. It is generated when flowing lava comes into contact with either flowing water or a water source block. When broken it releases the lava contained within, causing lava to flow briefly into the adjacent blocks before dissipating. It is impossible to obtain a lava pillow in item form and it will not remain intact even if a block dispenser or the silk touch enchantment is used to break it.
Keep in Mind
- Lava pillows appear when water touches a flowing lava block. Water that touches a lava source block will instead generate obsidian.
