Mechanical power is a form of energy. It has neither torque, speed nor direction; it is simply on or off. It can be transmitted indefinitely via Gear Boxes and Axles and can be used to automate a lot of machines.

Mechanical Power Generation Blocks

Generation blocks provide mechanical power under certain conditions. "Power Production Continuity" refers to the blocks ability to provide a constant power output.

Name Relation Use Power Production Continuity
Hand Crank Power generation Generate power manually Intermittent
Water Wheel Power generation Generating power with water Continuous
Wind Mill Power generation Generating power without water e.g. in the nether Continuous

Mechanical Power Transfer Blocks

Transfer blocks allow mechanical power to be extended from the power generation block to other locations.

Name Relation Use
Axle Transmission Transmit power up to 3 blocks
Gear Box Transmission/Distribution/Control Change direction of power, Extend range of power

Mechanically Powered Blocks

Mechanically powered blocks require mechanical power for full use. "Power Continuity Requirements" refers to the power output required to get any functionality of the block.

Name Relation Use Power Continuity Requirements
Mill Stone Power usage Hemp grinding, (auto) crafting, auto grinding Any
Saw Power usage Mob grinding, crafting, auto farming Continuous
Hopper Power usage Item dispensing, Item sorting Any
Turntable Power usage Reliable redstone clocks, rotating blocks Any
Bellows Power usage Stoking fire to let the Cauldron render items Any
