The interior of a jungle temple, with a vessel of the dragon.

Jungle Temples are generated structures primarily made of cobblestone and moss stone that occur naturally in jungles. They are highly sought-after, containing the vessel of the dragon as well as chests with gold tools, books, and emeralds. Due to their prominent similarities, jungle temples could be conceived as the equivalent to desert temples. For example, they both include hidden chests with gold artifacts and a unique block.

Jungle temples within a 2250 block radius from spawn will be looted, meaning they lack a vessel of the dragon and their loot chests contain only basic items such as bones and rotten flesh.

Structure

Jungle temples mostly consist of cobblestone and moss stone. There are three floors. On the bottom floor, there is a room with a chest and a wall with some chiseled stone bricks. Behind this wall there is a second hidden chest. The top floor contains some chopping blocks, which are otherwise only craftable once you have a soulforge. In non-looted temples there is a vessel of the dragon and hand crank next to the chopping blocks. The vessel comes pre-loaded with xp which can be released by activating the hand crank to tip the vessel.

Trivia

  • Jungle temples, along with monster spawners, are the only known ways of obtaining moss stone legitimately.
  • It is easier to find a jungle temple by setting the trees on fire. This will eventually burn away the leaves, vines and wood and won't burn up the temple, since it is built from cobblestone. It also stops jungle spiders from spawning.
  • It is possible to find blocks which generate outside jungle temples, like leaves, which have spawned inside, possibly blocking the chests.
