Wooden Planks are study building and crafting materials that can harvested from Wood using an axe or a saw. It has many crafting applications and is critical to the construction of mechanically powered devices. Planks come in a variety of colors from different types of wood, but are otherwise identical. Planks can be further cut by the saw into halves (sidings), quarters (mouldings) and eighths (corners), which can be used in place of full planks in some recipes for greater efficiency, and are required for others.

Wooden Planks and blocks primarily made from them, such as Wooden Stairs, will prevent mobs from spawning on them, regardless of light level.

Axe

Axes below Diamond will take damage per block from splitting wood. Stone Axes will create Shafts instead of Wooden Planks.

Minimized blocks are reversible without loss by crafting the partial blocks back together, but Gears are irreversible.
