Brimstone is a smelly yellow powder commonly used as a component for Gunpowder, which is used in the manufacture of explosive Powder Kegs. It is produced by two methods; by filtering Glowstone Dust on a Soul Sand filtered Hopper, or by rendering Ender Slag in a stoked Cauldron, which is itself obtained initially from End Stone.

Filtering

Glowstone Dust will instantly turn into Brimstone when it is thrown on top of a Hopper that has been fitted with a Soul Sand block as a filter, but it will not fall through the hopper. It is very advisable to apply mechanical power to the hopper to release the extracted soul energy, as converting eight or more cumulative Glowstone Dust while it is unpowered will cause the hopper to explode, destroying half of the materials, the corner piece and the pressure plate.

During this process with a powered hopper, the extracted souls can optionally be captured by attaching an Urn below the Hopper to create Soul Urns, which are critical components of advanced devices and are one of the four components of Soulforged Steel. Every eight Glowstone Dust will fill one urn and cause it to drop off, leaving a place for a new urn. This process can be automated with the use of Block Dispensers and other devices.
