Brick blocks and its variants are some of the most costly material to build with, as they all require Clay to be collected in larger number, then dried out in the sun or in a Kiln.
Loose Brick Stairs are subject to gravity, but applying Clay, Nether Sludge, or a Slimeball will act as Mortar and turn them into their non-falling variants. Mortar can be applied manually or with a dispenser.
A pickaxe with the Silk Touch enchantment, or a Block Dispenser are the only way to obtain the mortared version of loose blocks, and use them for crafting.
