(→Obtaining apples: Updated the most important page ever. I think we should take out the part about Notch though unless we've had confirmed sightings on BTW.) |
(→Pros: Not many pros to apples anymore. FC mentioned in 4.60 that he has plans for them though. So I suppose we'll have to update this when that time comes.) |

Obtaining apples
There are three (more like two) sources of apples (excluding Creative Mode):
- They may be found in chests in strongholds or NPC villages or bonus chests.
- Killing Notch in multiplayer will drop an apple in addition to his inventory, but other than this, no mobs drop apples. But does Notch play Better Than Wolves? That's the real question.
- As of BTW Version 4.60, Oak leaves no longer have a chance of dropping an apple.
- Trading with villagers.
- Also any other types of trees do not drop apples
As a crafting ingredient
An apple can be used to craft a golden apple or an enchanted golden apple. These recipes don't work on Minecraft Pocket Edition.

Pros
- Apples are a renewable resource by way of villager trading.
- Apples can be used as a crafting ingredient to make golden apples.
- Apples can be a source of food.
Cons
- Apples restore only four hunger (Template:Iconbar/hunger
).
- Players will become hungry again quickly compared to eating bread or meat due to a low saturation value.
- Apples take more effort to farm than other foods, and should generally be considered a by-product of wood harvesting.
- Apples can be an unreliable food source, as even large trees may occasionally drop no apples.
