Revision as of 02:19, 27 July 2014
Hardcore Hunger drastically changes the way the food system works in Minecraft. It removes the invisible saturation value used in vanilla and replaces it with a visible fat bar. Fat is built up when the player eats more food than necessary to fill the hunger bar or when eating desserts after full. Fat is burned off when the hunger level goes below the fat level.
Changes from vanilla
- Health regeneration is decreased to restore half a heart of health every 30 seconds.
- Additional food poisoning effects for raw foods aside from chicken.
- Hunger steadily decreases as time passes as well as when you perform actions.
- The Hunger status effect has been renamed Food Poisoning, and you are unable to eat while being affected by it.
- Food stacks are limited to 16.
- Visual feedback added to the hunger meter whenever hunger is consumed by a player action.
Detrimental effects
Failing to keep your health, food and fat levels healthy causes detrimental effects.

Keep in Mind
- Detrimental effects are only applied when a status is shown.
- As a general rule, food items with more ingredients are more efficient.
- Under Hardcore Hunger, since healing speed is greatly reduced, staying fed above "peckish" is important when there is a risk of health loss.
- All furnace recipes shown here also work in either the Cauldron, or the Kiln.
