Stone, also known as Smooth Stone, is a block found in abundance in the Overworld. It uses the same texture on all six sides of the block. When mined, stone produces cobblestone.
Stone is an often-used building material in the construction of buildings, paths and many other things.
After air, stone is the second most common block found in a normal map.

Properties
As in vanilla Minecraft, stone is a very common block type in Better Than Wolves, making up the majority of the solid blocks generated. When chunks generate, stone can be found under layers of grass and dirt in most biomes, mycelium in mushroom islands or under layers of sandstone in deserts. It can also be seen exposed at the side of mountains in extreme hill biomes. Stone found at lower levels will have the effects of Hardcore Stratification, requiring better tools to destroy the blocks. However, harvesting the resources can still be done using lesser tools.
At its default hardness, stone can be successfully mined with any pickaxe, a chisel, a sharp stone or a pointy stick. When mined with an iron axe or better, it will drop cobblestone, which is used in many crafting recipes and as a sturdy building material. When mined with more primitive tools such as stone pickaxe, chisel, sharp stone or pointy stick, it will drop a combination of stones (item) and gravel piles. To successfully mine stone and keep it in its default state (smooth stone), one must remove the blocks adjacent to it and mine it with a chisel. Stone can also be successfully mined with a pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch and will then drop one stone block. Stone can also be obtained by smelting cobblestone back into smooth stone. Stone can also be made by lava flowing on top of water, where the water will be replaced. The mob known as a silverfish will dig into stone, in addition to stone bricks and cobblestone. When it does this, it creates a Monster Egg.
Stone can be used as a building material as well and can be used in several crafting recipes. Stone takes slightly less time to mine than cobblestone, meaning cobblestone generators are a less efficient way to obtain cobblestone. When the world is generating new chunks, some stone becomes ore, and almost every cavern and mineshaft will generate at stone level.
